Sir Ian Potter is an Australian philanthropist and businessman. He established the Ian Potter foundation in 1964 and was known for his large donations to art organisations, charities, research institutes and universities. In 1962 he became knighted and received an honourary Doctorate of Laws in 1973 from the University of Melbourne.

Sir Ian Potter's legacy is still alive in Australia today with many landmarks named in his honour. Among these landmarks are the Ian Potter Centre located at Federation Square, the Ian Potter Children's Garden located at the Royal Botanic Gardens and the University of Melbourne's Ian Potter Museum of Art.
